# Player

Play a day's videos, loop with rest, and mark parts done.

The player is built for working out: it plays a day's videos one after another, loops a video with rest in between, and keeps track of what you've done.

Open it with **Start Training** on the Dashboard, **Play** on a calendar day, or **Play** on any video in the Library.

## Controls

Move the mouse (or tap) to show the controls; they fade away while you watch, including in fullscreen.

* **Play / pause**, **back 10 s / forward 10 s**, and the **progress bar** (click or drag to jump).
* **Playback speed** (**1×**), **volume** and **mute**.
* **Fullscreen.** On a phone or tablet it fills the screen with the whole player, so the loop counter and rest countdown stay visible.
* **✕** in the top left closes the player.

The label under the title shows how the video is playing: **Direct play** (straight from the file, best quality and instant jumping) or **Converting** (for a file this device can't play as it is, such as an MKV on an iPad).

## YouTube videos

A video from a [YouTube playlist](/homeworkouthero/user-guide/youtube-playlists.md) plays with **YouTube's own controls**: play, the progress bar, volume, captions, quality, skipping ads and full screen all work just as they do on YouTube.

The **✕**, the title and **Loop** sit in a strip above the video, and **Up next** below it, so nothing covers the video. During a rest between loops the countdown takes the video's place, and full screen closes so you can see it.

## A day with several videos

When a workout day has more than one video (a warm-up, the main workout, a cool-down…), the **Today** strip under the player lists them: the one playing is marked **NOW**, and you can click any other to jump to it. It also shows how many are done and how much time is left.

Near the end of a part, an **Up next** card offers the next video. When a part ends, the next one starts by itself.

## Looping a video, with rest

Looping a video with rest
{% endembed %}

Repeat a video for several rounds without reaching for the progress bar:

1. Click **Loop** (top right of the video).
2. Set **Play (times)**. It counts the play already running, so **3** means three plays in total.
3. Pick the **Rest between plays**: 0:00 to 2:00.
4. Pick the **Rest before next video**: a separate, usually longer, rest before the day's next video.
5. Click **Start loop**.

The button shows your progress (**Loop 1 / 3**). When a play ends, a **Rest** countdown appears with what comes next; **Skip rest** goes straight on.

To change or stop a loop, click the **Loop** button again → **Update** or **Turn off**.

## Marking it done

When you finish a video, click **Mark part done** (or **Mark workout done** on a one-video day). It gets a checkmark on the [Calendar](/homeworkouthero/user-guide/calendar.md) and is recorded in your [Workout Log](/homeworkouthero/user-guide/workout-log.md); click again to undo. If you looped it, the Log records how many times you did it.

Playing a video from the Library (outside a plan) and marking it done adds it to your Log for today.
